If you’ve visited a McDonald’s restaurant in the last five years with your smartphone, laptop or tablet, the chances are that you’ll have updated your Facebook status or tweeted whilst tucking into a Big Mac. We’ve just announced a partnership with McDonald’s to continue this for the next five years, with O2 Wifi.

“A steak, a pint and some free internet, please” – O2 Wifi’s coming to a pub near you.

We’ve all been there – you’re in the pub, nursing a drink and waiting for your delicious food to arrive. What better time to check Facebook, or catch up on the football scores? Ah. A problem – the pub’s in an old bank building with bomb shelter-like walls. Your plan’s foiled and it’s back to flipping beer mats on the edge of the table.

BBC tackles the ‘Myth of Free Wi-Fi’

Yesterday, the BBC published a report on The Myth of Free Wi-Fi, which addressed the challenges many consumers have accessing genuinely free Wi-Fi hotspots. 

The BBC is right to highlight the confused and misleading practice in the UK. We also recognise these frustrations and know that Wi-Fi is becoming increasingly important to our customers. Rightly, they are disappointed when it is charged for or simply doesn’t work.
