Updated your Dell Streak to 2.2 already? Let us know what you think of the new software in the comments!
Any ideas on when we can expect the update, been checking religiously all day and still nothing. Even 'power cycled' the phone a couple times.
I am a bit of a freak when it comes to updates and schedules!
Great work on the update, was delivered the time I was told when I got the phone.

Just updated from 2.1 to 2.2 and all went fine. The Dell backup utility said the backup file it created was invalid but it all seemed to work ok when I went to restore.
2.2 seems like a nice improvement.

Well I applied this update last evening and it mostly went well, but...
When it finished the final reboot, my display was upside down, in landscape mode (USB socket at the top of the display instead of at the bottom).
I switched off autorotate and that put it back the right way up, but now I can't get it into protrait mode.
Suggestions please.

Downloaded, rebooted and then received quick error message saying
"Can't open /sdcard/....../.....pkg". (bad)
(obviously without the ....'s).
Then, reboots into 1.6. I now can't re-download.
I have to say, compared to Apple for example, this update experience is pretty dissappointing so far...

Update from 1.6 to 2.2 went fine but I had to remove and replace the battery before the Streak would start up afterwards.
2.2 is very different, but the email app now works with POP3 accounts properly (had to use K-9 mail before).
The calendar view is now improved, and the weekly view shows text against each entry (in 1.6 only a blank panel was shown).
However, the handy home screen panel which allowed wifi/bluetooth/GPS/sync to be turned on/off has been removed, and I haven't found a quick & easy way of doing this. The top panel indicators also don't have the ability to go directly to the app - e.g. messaging.
And the email reader has no "next/previous" buttons - you have to close the email to go back to the summary list to open the next mail.
So, initial impressions are mixed - some improvements, but some clear steps backwards. It's early days yet, so hopefully some of these shortcomings will be overcome with familiarity.

My Streak display is now back the right way up :)
See HOWTO:

This upside-down business, and the loss of syncing of task and calendar, have been big downsides. The shortcut bar to switch 3G / wifi / GPS on and off has gone, which is not good. There are pluses - the ability to make a personal wifi hotspot is good, snd the rest of it is working fine. The new layout is OK, but wastes some space in the layout of the apps icons.

Unlike all of the users above I am very disatisfied with this upgrade to 2.2.
The loss of functionality in not being able to sync with MsOutlook and MsExchange renders this tablet completely useless, unless for an adolescent teenager/media freak!
I bought this phone for its size, functionality, the use of Microsoft compatible software, GPS with voice(Superb), and the ability to use a high storage sd card and to use Outlook and exchange.
With this upgrade I have lost nearly all this functionality. I went to Carphone Warehouse who sold me the handset, they tried their best, but could do nothing. O2 claim it is Dell's fault and visa versa, as Dell say it was an O2 OTA rollout. The point being is that they could all provide an alternative but they make you suffer in the meantime.
Carphone and O2 could offer to change this useless handset, I don't mind paying a difference, but never want an Android phone again, or Dell could sort the problem out be writing a software script to put all the faults right, or offer their new phone Streak 7 which I believe for some curious reason works!!
Also the handset will not let you put owners details in anymore! Whooppee!
I do hope that something will be done soon, my patience has run out!
