Today is the two year anniversary of O2 becoming the first UK network to offer the Apple iPhone (2G). Time for some statistics.
- The Apple iPhone is the fastest-selling device ever on O2 in the UK
- O2 now has over 1 million iPhone customers
- O2 also offers the iPhone in Czech Republic and Ireland
- The iPhone was the first device to come with unlimited Wi-Fi included in the tariff
- The iPhone helped O2 in the UK record its highest ever net gain of customers in the fourth quarter of 2007 when it first went on sale in the UK. O2 added 483,000 net customers in the quarter including 276,000 on contract. (It wasn’t available on Pay & Go until September 2008)
- iPhone 3G launched in June 2008. Consumer interest in the 3G iPhone was four times more than interest in its 2G predecessor
- 40 days from launch, approximately half a million customers have downloaded the MyO2 iPhone app
- One fifth of iPhone customers live within the M25
- The O2 network has seen data traffic increase 20-fold in the last 12 months, doubling every four months
- Since launching the iPhone, O2 has become the home of the smartphone: Other exclusives on O2 include the Palm Pre and the Samsung Galaxy at launch
Yes but ... the 'MyO2 ' still doesn't work!

The only problem for example in Canary Wharf the 3G is almost unusable !!! connection drops all the time and can't even get my emails, O2 you need to sort out your network !!!

Nice list, shame it doesn't mention the milestone of actually getting the iPhone to successfully connect a call on O2 :p

Great, so with all these new customers I hope O2 is well placed to make some serious investments in improving its data network because iPhone users sure all know how much it needs it.

You forgot mentioned the shambolic degradation of your data network.
What we paid £35/month+ for 18 months ago is NO LONGER being provided.
Data rates are useless in London. I may as well have a 2G iPhone. In fact on many days I may as well have an iPod Touch, as I fail to receive calls too.
Sort out your network, O2. You've made money out of us. Spend it wisely.

Love my iPhone, but ...
"5. One fifth of iPhone customers live within the M25"
Maybe because of the *very* patchy O2 coverage elsewhere in the UK?

What about the netlock of 'O2-iPhones'?
T-mobile unlocks iPhones without any cost after 24months.
I like to hear O2's opinion about this.

Shame you didn't do top ten things we are doing for our loyal customers when they have been with us for two years plus and we don't even allow loyalty points that they have earned with the iPhone to be used on their new iPhone. Currently loyalty counts for bugger all as far as O2 are concerned.

"unlimited Wi-Fi"??? Wireless uses my own internet connection - of course it's unlimited. Surely you mean unlimited data?

In Soho 3G is a nightmare. DO you think you'll solve that issue one day ?
