We know that some of you have been having problems when logging into the My O2 app - here’s some tips to give you quick and easy access to your account.
Hello again everyone, Antony Douglas here. Some of you have told us that you have had problems logging into My O2 app, which I am really sorry about. We’ve discovered most problems seem to be occurring because some people have more than one account on O2.co.uk – one we’ve set up when you joined and one you may have set up yourself later on.
If this has happened to you, you’ll need to use the original account we created when you joined O2.
- If you joined O2 through our website, you’ll have chosen your own username and password. We’ll then have sent you an email with your username and a text with your password as a reminder.
- If you joined us by phoning one of our sales teams it’ll be the same as above except our advisor will have created the account and then emailed you the details.
- If you joined O2 when you were in an O2 or Apple store, your username will have been on your contract. We’ll then have sent a follow-up username reminder by text, along with your password sent by text once you’d connected. If you joined us in Carphone Warehouse, you’ll have received both your username and password by text.
If you have only got part of your details (either your original log-in or password) you can get a reminder of the rest by going to https://www.o2.co.uk/login/ and clicking help.
If you don't have either just go to http://www.o2.co.uk/iphonelogin - fill in the form and we’ll send you your details securely.
The My O2 app is not currently available to you if you have more than one mobile phone number on the same bill. We are hoping to have a version of the app ready for you soon and will be back in touch. You can, however, access your account information at http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2.
We’ve noticed a lot of people trying to use the app late at night and very early in the morning – we occasionally do some work on our systems which means you may have problems accessing it at these times. If you do have a problem, please give it a go later on in the day.
Also remember at the moment that the My O2 app doesn’t work for our business or corporate users.
Please let me know in the comments if this still doesn’t fix your problem.
For your info, many people (myself included) bought an iPhone on line and *didn't* get the option to create an o2 log-in, so you might want to modify those instructions.

I have one account and every time I try to use the app it says 'connecting' and then just exits back to the main iPhone menu. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, all to no avail. I'll just use one of the other ones. Too much hassle this!

Sorry but suggestions don't work for me - I have one phone, one mobile number, only one account and get "Sorry cannot retrieve data" error every time I try and use the app. My username and password are OK as I can access account via web page

"The My O2 app is not currently available to you if you have more than one mobile phone number on the same bill."
Come on guys, if an single app developer like Michael McNeela can do this, surely you must be able to as well.
Why don't you just buy his code off him and rebrand it? It'd be much quicker.

So I guess anyone who ported their number to an iPhone won't be abl to use the app unroll after their first bill. As your tempoary number will still be on the bill from before your number got transferee accross from your old network.
Seams to have been the issue for ke and my fellow iPhone newbie mates!!

how do i get my 'ORIGINAL' account details?
Posted by: apple dupna | 24 September 2009 at 02:24 PM
None of them suggestions help. Didn't think they would to be honest. If u read the reviews on the app store, people are logging on the website with no probs but can't login to the app.
You obviously have a IT problem and your developers are passing the book.

Is there any indication for when business accounts will have access to the app?
Posted by: twitter.com/reinikainen | 24 September 2009 at 03:25 PM
Same problem as others. Push the icon, "retrieving data", CRASH! Phoned customer services who say a lot of people having the same problem and an updated app will be released shortly. So how about putting that info on the itunes store so we don't all waste our time!

For me it doesnt work when I am connected to wifi (tried multiple networks), have to disable wifi then login. Perhaps this helps :)

I'm an iPhone developer. The app is badly written. The developer(s) seem to have spent more time on the eye candy gages than the QA of functionality.
Issues I see:
o The login screen is flakey - often you don't see the black screen with the progress spinner on it.
o App doesn't remember login details. Why does it ask for a pin? It doesn't even remember I've logged on.
o Interface is confused and unintuitive.
o random crashes - even worse when on spotty reception areas. Does not seem to detect if network connection is valid.
Shocking. Embaressing. Did Apple even review this app??

Hello I have to say up until this APP was released all I did was rant about how good O2 are. And I still feel that way so people bare that in mind. However, this 'network error' issue is a total clanger. It quite simply shouldn't have happened, it's a bit like Ford forgetting to put wheels on the new car they've just released?!!!
As for your help (I myself work in support) I quote "you can get a reminder of the rest by going to https://www.o2.co.uk/login/ and clicking help." Where? and this isn't a good direction at all.
I think 'myo2' will be great as and when it's actually been thru a decent beta testing route and is as good as it can be prior to release. Remind you of Windows Vista anyone????
All the best with the future of this app o2, and I wouldn't want to be manning you Customer Support Phones.

One phone, one mobile number, one account, not business account but yet when I log on using the app I just get 'network unavailable' pop up box.
I changed my login details when I got the phone and I know these new logins are correct as I can log on using the website.
There seems to be a technical problem linking app to your servers. Strange how it works for some people though.
Starting to get very frustrating. Just shows when you can give a service for free, if it doesn't work, how it can backfire and create poor customer feeling.

Blue room. blue book and o2 app on iphone. nothing seems to work if you do it all on a mac. endless circles. very poor, luckily the mac backs up my stuff, (but not the sim- no way of saving to sim on an iphone) Just give up.

I rang o2 as an old account, which expired in July is still attached to my username.
They said it will take six months for it to dissapear and they are unable to remove it.
o2 have finally started to catch up with other networks who realised it would be novel to easily view your account on your mobile. Great simple idea.
But the o2 systems that restrict the above and cause the frequent downtime should have been addressed long ago, plus this app should have been available sooner, much like the mms features etc.
If o2 cannot forsee such issues through rigorous testing, or put adequate pressure on apple, or actually invest in develping better systems then the Iphone should be released to a more competant network provider.

Just got my iphone today and downloaded this as my first app.
1. When logging in it does nothing (just returns to the app dash board.
Shame because this would be a handy app.
Hope O2 fix it, obviously a problem... Any recommendations for alternatives ?

Now it complains about the network, but it's hit and miss as to whether you get an error message :(
First iphone
First time with 02
First app
First impressions? :(

Same problem, "Error, network unavailable". Tried not using WiFi, to no avail. Logon and password work fine online. Very disappointing!
Posted by: richard | 24 September 2009 at 11:57 PM
I can never get this to work, be it wifi, 3g or 2g
Ive tried in the morning and evenings but i just keep getting network unavailable errors all the time. The details i log in with are correct as i can log into 02 just fine...

I'm using the user id and password I was given. The problem is that I've 2 mobile nos on the account. I've the number the phone came with and my own number that was transferred from t-mobile 3 days later. The original number is defunct but customer service couldn't get rid of it. I assume anyone that ports their number to O2 will have the same problem that I have and be unable to log on.

Still ERROR Network unavailable, come on O2 get your act together.
Its funny 3rd party apps work fine

Sorry but your solutions do not work. I originally bought my iphone from the O2 store as PAYG and never recieved any username or password details. I can only assume that I just have the one account I created on the O2 site.
Constant message when I try and login no matter what time of day.
Error
Could not retrieve data. Please try again later.

Anthony I am afraid that whist your solution sounds plausible it does not provide a solution to me and as I read to many other subscribers. I too have two accounts...both of them work on the website login, neither of then work on the iPhone App. Both logins generate the same error msg..."Network unavailable. Please check network connections or try again later".
Here are some simple solutions - instead of asking the subscriber to enter long signin details why not just hold those details in the Settings Tab on the iPhone. Many other Apps do so why not the O2 App? That way the user only needs to establish the correct entry once and for all future access requests the login details once entered will be held in the Settings Tab. Or why not remove one of the dual entries if there are no details held in the account. or why not link the multiple entries in your back office systems and that way the subscribers will not notice anything different and will be able use either of the logins. One of the main reason why folks might have created a second account could be that users like me felt that the auto login details generated by O2 were long verbose and by and large meaningless!!! Or perhaps allow subscribers to choose which of the accounts they wish to retain and provide a delete option. I certainly have no intention of switching to the auto generated account you provided and will continue to use my personal login. The longer you take to provide a proper solution the more frustrated, annoyed angry customers/subscribers will become and the more adverse publicity will be generated.
Please act quickly and provide a proper solution soon.
